Heathenfest | Eluveitie-November 12, 2009

I am a HUGE Eluveitie fan!!! This show was amazing-I can’t wait for them to come back. Check out their awesomeness on the official site or their Myspace page. I admire their musicianship; I think every member knows how to play at least 3 instruments (plus, they’re Swiss, so they’re also polyglots!) If you enjoy folk metal-you will LOVE Eluveitie.

Eluveitie is certainly a band I love to listen to on a daily basis, especially their album Slania and their new album Everything Remains As It Never Was (which was not out at the time of the show.) I really suggest that you check them out-as well as my photos. Let me know what you think of them (yes, I post them here almost a year after the show, but the pictures have been up since then on my Facebook page.)

Belphegor!!!!!!!I love these Austrian guys!! I can’t say I love their lyrics too much, but their sound and image are awesome. I totally had a blast during their set, and we (friends and I) were able to talk to Serpenth (bassist) after the show. Yay! (There’s a funny story that goes along with that, but ask me for it!) Scottish crazy-ass metal! (ahem…pirate metal) Alestorm are really fun to watch live, and they are hilarious to talk to. They are good friends of some of my friends, too, so that’s always good!

Vreid from Norway. I actually started listening to these guys years ago, but it wasn’t until Heathenfest that I really started listening to them. They filmed us at the show! (for about 3 seconds…you can find it on Blabbermouth I believe.)
At Heathenfest, they played alongside Kivimetsän Druidi (Finland), Alestorm (Scotland), Belphegor (Austria), and Eluveitie (Switzerland.)

Heathenfest | Kivimetsän Druidi-November 12, 2009

Kivimetsän Druidi is an up-and-coming band from Finland; I highly recommend them if you like Finnish folk metal and female-fronted metal. Check out their site. The name means “druid of the stone forest” (EPIC!) and the lyrics are based on a fantasy novel Joni (guitarist/vocalist) is writing. They are also very influenced by LOTR. Heathenfest had an amazing lineup: Kivimetsän Druidi, Vreid (Norway), Alestorm (Scotland), Belphegor (Austria), and Eluveitie (Switzerland). Killer!!
